Paul Scholes ready to fight on

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has said that he is at a stage now that he does not know when he will end his career, but added that he cherishes every game that he plays with the Red of United on him.
Scholes, who started his career with the Red Devils way back in 1994, was given an extension of one year by the club. He said that now he can never be sure how long it would last but he will continue to serve his beloved club to the best of his abilities.
Scholes has been with the team on a pre-season tour to Canada, United States and Mexico.  He said that he has worked hard on his fitness during off season, and is feeling fit and ready for the upcoming season. Scholes said that at his age it does take a lot more to get the fitness levels up but he is determined to once again perform at the highest level, and win back the title for his club.
Scholes said that the 4 day training camp gave him good time to assess his fitness, and after the 3-1 win against Toronto he feels very confident of being able to play an important role for United this season.
The veteran retired from international football so that he could focus more on his club. He was asked to come back one last time by Capello for the World Cup but Scholes decided to stay back and spend some time with his family.  He said that after a good rest it has been a gruelling tour for him.
The midfielder said that he is not leaving anything for granted as he knows this may be the last pre season tour for him.
He said that yes he only has one more year on his contract, and his age is also on the wrong side of 30s, but he did not rule out the possibility of going for another season. He said that all of that will depend on how the upcoming season goes. He added that he has always played the game with all his heart and will never like to be a liability to the team.
Scholes added that the thought of not playing for Manchester United does scare him, but all good things must come to an end someday. However he said that right now the only thing on his mind is the new season and winning back the title. The 9 time league winner with United said that he feels up for it, and knows that he can last the whole season. He went on to say that when he realises that he cannot perform at an optimum level he will call it a day.
The former England international said that, the best way to enjoy the game is to think of every match as the most important one of your life. Scholes said that it has been a blessing to play under a man like Sir Alex Ferguson, and he has learned all the tricks of the trade from the manager.
He said that when he started his career 16 years ago he never imagined himself being part of the team at this stage. Scholes added that over the years he has been perused by various big name clubs, but he could never imagine himself putting on any other team’s shirt. He said if you cut me I will bleed United and that is all I have ever known.
Scholes ended by saying that the best way to end his career will be to once again win back the lead, and exit the game like he entered “on a high”.
