Paul Silas' Debut as a Charlotte Bobcats’ Interim Coach
Veteran coach Paul Silas has made a successful debut, as interim coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. In his first game back with Charlotte at the Time Warner Cable Arena,
the Bobcats defeated the visiting Detroit Pistons by five points, 105-100.
Before the start of the game, Silas said, "Any time you lose games by 30 points, something is wrong. I didn't see them getting up and down the court. They didn't seem
like they were really into the game." Paul Silas coached the Bobcats in a fantastic manner, and tried his best to push the pace by changing the shot clocks in practice from 24 to 14 seconds.
Under his fantastic guidance, Charlotte had perhaps one of their best leads of the season in an authoritative second quarter.
At the end of the match, Silas said that he left a phone message for the recently dismissed Bobcats’ coach Larry Brown, but had not received any response yet. Silas said, "It's
hard. I've been there, getting fired. Do you want that team to do well? Quite honestly, no. I can understand, but I hope to talk to him soon." Silas had an eye-catching basketball career. He
was a crowd-pleasing coach of the Charlotte Hornets prior to his hiring last week. In the National Basketball Association (NBA), Silas collected more than 10,000 points and 10,000 rebounds during his distinguished 16-year career.
He was nominated to the All-NBA Defensive First Team twice, and to the All-NBA Defensive Second Team three times. Silas’
determination regarding Charlotte is sky-high. He hopes to get Charlotte's second NBA team into the playoffs, too. In addition, the Charlotte players are quite satisfied with his coaching style. D.J. Augustin said, "Coach
Silas, he's a great motivator. He got us up for the game and he made everybody relaxed. We did not know what to expect tonight in our first game under him. We just played hard for him and hard for the fans."
Charlotte’s fans are hopeful to see the Bobcats performing well under Silas’ leadership. So far the Bobcat’s performance this season has not been up to the mark, as they
have lost 19 matches and won only 10.
