Paul Tingley secures top podium place at 2012 Rolex Miami OCR – Sailing news
Canada’s Paul Tingley is putting up an extraordinary show at the 2012 Rolex Miami OCR as he has made his way into the top podiums of 2.4mr class in 2012 Rolex Miami Olympic Classes Regatta (OCR). His surge into the top three podium places of the regatta
has made him one of the favourites to clinch the class gold medal.
The 2008 Paralympic Gold medallist has made it into the top spots for the second time in one month. Previously, he put up an outstanding sailing performance at the 2012 IFDS World Championships in Port Charlotte and was able to claim the bronze medal. Tingley
has already qualified for the upcoming 2012 Paralympic Games and is aiming to show his class.
“I enjoy the game of chasing that invisible force of nature - the wind. It's addictive,” explained Tingley, “It is important to be well-prepared and execute on game day. However, the work before the regatta is where most of the results come from.”
France’s Damien Seguin is currently leading the 2.4mr fleet with 17 points after 10 races, including a discard while Tingley is trailing behind him with 42 points. He can be challenged by the third placed Barend Kol, who is just six points behind him.
