Paul di Resta, Rubens Barrichello unsure about first corner of Monaco Grand Prix circuit – Formula 1
Recent reports have revealed that Formula 1 drivers Paul di Resta and Rubens Barrichello are sceptical about the readiness of the first corner of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit for the first practice session of the race on Thursday.
The circuit was damaged after a small truck caught fire near the first right hand uplifting corner due to which the track was damaged from that area recently.
The organisers of the venue have stated that the material used for fixing the damage will surely settle before Saturday but they added that they are not sure whether the track will be ready for the first free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix which
takes place Thursday.
As a result, drivers including Paul di Resta and Rubens Barrichello are concerned as they believe that it will not be possible for the organisers to get the track ready until Thursday in any way.
“With the heat we have now, with temperatures not going much below 20 degrees and with track temperature at 45 during the day, you have to wonder at how that's going to cure,” di Resta said.
On the other hand, Nick Heidfeld of Lotus Renault GP claims that he walked on the damaged area and it was fully repaired as a result of which, the drivers will not be facing any problems.
“I walked the circuit and it looked ok. It looked like they did a good job,” Heidfeld said.
Other than that, it might prove to be dangerous for drivers as it is at the braking point of the Drag Reduction System zone. Due to that, the drivers are going to be at a high speed before reaching the braking zone.
“We have to see if it rains. But I don't think there's any prediction of that,” said Barrichello.
Since the weather forecast suggests it might rain, the condition of the damaged corner can get worse. Let’s see how the situation unfolds this weekend.
