Paul di Resta admires Force India one-stop strategy in Canada – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has admired his team’s one-stop strategy in the 2013 Canadian Grand Prix because of which he managed to secure an impressive 7th place finish.
Di Resta struggled a lot during the qualifying at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal and could only secure 17th grid position for the race. Nevertheless, he delivered a remarkable performance on the race day and came 7th after taking only one pit stop
during the final stint.
The British driver said that they took a very good decision to take pit stop after 56th lap in the preceding race due to which they were able to attain competitive results. Besides, he admired the performance of everyone in his squad who made it possible
to score some very good points in the last race.
“I think we got it absolutely spot on,” he said. “Every lap up until then was quicker and that last lap I just felt they were going away. Whether there was a chance to fight [Jean-Eric] Vergne [I don't know], but we just took the long game and made sure
we scored the points. After the weekend we've had, to get away with seventh after starting 17th is an extremely good job.”
“We had a very quick car on Friday but I missed out on the long-run data because I missed out on the high-fuel run with an electrical failure,” he added.
In addition, he said that they are hopefully looking forward to perform well in the British GP and are aiming to keep on scoring good points in the season ahead.
At present, he is standing at 8th place in the drivers’ championship with 34 points. Furthermore, he is ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus and behind his major rival, Felipe Massa of Ferrari. He has amazed everyone with his superb performance in the Bahrain
GP in which he came 4th after taking a start from 5th grid slot.
Meanwhile, the Silverstone based squad are at 5th place in the constructors’ championship with 51 points. Additionally, they are ahead of their major opponent, McLaren and behind Lotus. Let’s see how they perform in the approaching race.
