Paul di Resta believes he is capable of moving to a bigger team – Formula 1 news
Force India driver, Paul di Resta believes he is capable of moving to a bigger team after securing fourth place finish in the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix.
Di Resta has been surrounded by many speculations that he may move to McLaren as a potential replacement of their driver, Lewis Hamilton whose contract is going to end at the conclusion of this season.
Moreover, it has been reported that there are chances that he may join Mercedes as a probable replacement of the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher who is expected to retire after this year.
Besides, after delivering an inspiring performance in the night race held at Marina Bay Street Circuit, the 26-year-old is feeling very confident and has expressed that he has got the potential to secure a race seat in a top team.
In addition, he said that he has raced against top contenders in the past and has given them a tough time too. Furthermore, he said that he is going to perform at his best and will wait for the opportunity to race for a team which can provide him a car that
is competent enough of claiming victories.
“I would like to think I am capable of stepping up to one of the bigger teams,” said Di Resta. “I have raced against the drivers at top in the past and have had great battles with them and beaten them, but I'm not getting carried away. When the time is right
hopefully someone will step up and give me chance to do that because I want to be in a car that wins races week in, week out.”
Nonetheless, he said that presently he is completely loyal to his current team and is aiming to score reasonable points in the forthcoming races so as to secure a good position in this year’s championship.
“I enjoy being part of this team, even though it's hard work because the infrastructure we have is not quite what others have,” he added.
At present, he is standing at 11th place in the drivers’ championship and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the remaining races.
