Paul di Resta believes new chassis made difference in 2012 Abu Dhabi GP – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta believes that his new chassis has made the difference in his performance in the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and has clarified the doubts over his struggling performances in the last few races.
The Silverstone based team found out the issue with Di Resta’s chassis due to which he was unable to score even a single point in the three consecutive races before the Abu Dhabi GP.
Nonetheless, he came up stronger with new chassis at Yas Marina Circuit and managed to secure 9th place finish after taking a start from 12th grid slot.
Furthermore, he said that after scoring points in the preceding race, he has gained confidence and is looking forward to perform well in the remainder of the season.
In addition, he said that the competition is still very tough and they are trying their best to keep on making the essential progress so as to fight well with their competitors in the remaining two races of the ongoing season.
"The nice thing to pick up on is that new chassis has done what it should do," he said. "We've put ourselves in a good position again, rebuilt our confidence and certainly we'll be fighting hard. We scored a couple of points but obviously some of our competitors
have outscored us, but that is name of game."
Besides, he said that during the incident happened at first corner in the start of the race, he was in the front and could not see which cars crashed.
"Four cars into turn one doesn't work, but I was at front so I couldn't see what four cars was, but I left more than half track's width and what other people were trying to do to right hand side of me was another question," he added.
At present, he is standing at 13th place in the drivers’ championship with 46 points. Additionally, he is ahead of his main rival, Pastor Maldonado of Williams and is behind his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg.
Let’s see how he performs in the last two rounds of the ongoing season.
