Paul di Resta believes the addition of Nico Hulkenberg is an asset for Force India – Formula 1 news
Paul di Resta feels that with the addition of Nico Hulkenberg, the duo will take Force India to new heights.
Force India has been performing really well for a relatively new team. Since it debuted in 2008 it has consistently bettered its performance with each passing season.
In 2011, the team did particularly well to finish at sixth on the constructors’ championship- the highest ranking the team has yet achieved. Paul di Resta and now his ex teammate Adrian Sutil did really well to secure a sixth-place finish.
Force India have been looking to seriously contend for the top five positions in the upcoming 2012 season. The team has also been boosted by an investment of $100 million as Sahara India is now in partnership with Vijay Mallya for a 42.5% share.
Hulkenberg had remained a reserve driver for Force India for the 2011 season but has been highly rated with impressive showing in the GP2 series. Di Resta also ranks Hulkenberg highly and considers the partnership to bring good fortune for the team.
“It's a young team in terms of the driver line-up [both drivers are under 25] but it should give the team a spark,” said Di Resta at the Autosport International Show. “We need to be good team-mates, work well together but also have a competitive nature on
track so we can bounce off each other. I don't see any reason why we can't do that and support each other.”
“We're both on equal territory, as we have the same experience, so it should be good. We're already working together, pushing ideas to the team to try and improve from last year and that is being taken on board,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how Force India performs in the 2012 season as all the teams are gearing up for the inaugural Grand Prix in March. The first pre-season test starts in February and will give a glimpse of the new edition of all the team’s cars
taking part.
It will somewhat give an indication of where all the participating teams stand in comparison. Mercedes are so far the only team who have confirmed that they will not be taking part in it while Force India are yet to confirm their participation.
