Paul di Resta celebrates his fourth place finish in 2012 Singapore GP – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has celebrated his fourth place finish in the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix which is the best performance of his career until now.
Di Resta performed really well in the qualifying of the last race held at Marina Bay Street Circuit and secured 6th grid slot. Later on, he performed even better in the race and came 4th after showing an amazing pace.
Moreover, it will be important to mention that he gave a tough time to Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who secured an impressive third podium finish in the Singapore GP.
The 26-year-old said that he is very happy with his result in the preceding race and admired all the efforts of his team in the season so far. He also said that they have successfully reduced the gap to the contenders in the front and they are optimistically
looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races so as to secure a good position in this year’s championship fight.
“To get a good start and maintain position and then just at the end to push a Ferrari who's pushing for the Championship is brilliant for us,” Di Resta said. “Our nearest rivals didn't score so it's really special for us and we'll enjoy it tonight. The concentration
is the most difficult thing at this race and I try to focus and make sure I'm in the best physical shape to drive my car. This is my own journey but with people's help it could get even better.”
In addition, he said that he has gained a lot of confidence after scoring competitive points in the previous race and is aiming to achieve more in the approaching races.
“I've always said I want to win races,” he added.
The Scottish driver has been recently linked with Mercedes as a potential replacement of Michael Schumacher who, according to reports, will retire after this year. However, he has asserted that he is not paying attention to the ongoing speculations and is
focussing to attain promising results for his current team in the remainder of the season.
