Paul di Resta confident of improved show by Force India in Hungary – Formula 1 news
Paul di Resta is confident that Force India will be able to make a comeback in the Hungarian GP, after failing to deliver a good result in Germany.
The Briton stated, “Germany was a bit of a disappointment because every race we've finished [prior to that] we've scored points. We'll bounce back; we are a team that can react quite quickly. I think our car, specifically, just didn't suit Germany and I think when we are back on a more normal track we will see the signs of our car that have been strong.”
Force India have been the surprise team this year, as they have managed to cause problems for McLaren, who have got far more resources compared to any other midfield squad. Despite that, the former team is ahead in the Constructor’s Championship by 10 points.
However, it will not be an easy task for the Silverstone based outfit to hold onto their fifth position until the end of the season. They will have to make continuous developments and look to fight for podiums like they did at the start of the year, especially in Bahrain where di Resta almost scored his first ever podium, but dropped back in the ending moments of the race due to tyre wear.
Although Force India have got the upper hand over their main rivals this year, di Resta believes that it would be too early to make any predictions. He added, “McLaren, we've had the better side of them up until the last grand prix. I think the fight will go quite a long way down the line before it's decided.”
He went onto say that there were no major upgrades planned for the VJM06, which was a bit concerning. He was still confident of finishing fifth in the championship though, which will be a huge step forward for the team.
On the other hand, McLaren have not given up on their current challenger and will be working hard to make life tough for their opponents. Although it seems too late for them to fight for the top-three positions, they can still go one position up, if not two.
