Paul di Resta is helping Force India develop the 2012 edition of their car – Formula 1 news
Paul di Resta says that he is working closely with Force India team to develop the 2012 car.
Force India has been impressive in the 2011 season, achieving the sixth position in the constructors’ championship standing. As yet Force India have not announced their drivers for 2012 and di Resta is hoping to retain his seat with the team.
He was in praise over the opportunity Force India has given him and said that he hopes to keep his place intact and help the team improve on the its 2011 standing by overhauling the teams ahead. Di Resta though did not comment on his role with the team for
2012.
He mentioned that he is working closely with the engineers on the 2012 car and hopes that when Vijay Mallya and the Board members decide on their drivers for 2012 his name would be there as well.
“I can't say anything,” di Resta said. “The only thing that I can say is that I am still working closely with the team and helping with the new car. I will do some simulator work over the next week and hopefully by then Dr Mallya and his board will have
made up their minds about their 2012 driver line-up.”
“Certainly I would be very proud to stay with them for another year. They have shown a lot of respect for me and a lot of faith in me and I am very thankful for that,” he said.
Adrian Sutil is the driver most likely to lose out on his seat, although it has been reported that the driver has already been in talks with Williams over a possible 2012 race seat. That would Nico Hulkenberg is also in contention for a seat and only by
the end of this week will it be revealed who the drivers are going to be.
Di Resta has had a good season during 2011 with the team and it would not be surprising to see him secure his seat. At the moment he is going to go through some simulator exercises and waiting on the bosses to shed some light over his future with the Force
India.
