Paul di Resta: l was under pressure to score points in 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix
Force India-Mercedes driver Paul di Resta has said that he was under a bit of pressure to score some points for his team during the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix held on July 31, 2011, in Budapest.
Di Resta was engaged in a midfield fight with Toro Rosso drivers Sebastien Buemi, Jaime Alguersuari and Mercedes GP’s Nico Rosberg for a few laps of the Hungarian GP. After struggling for his best finish during the race, he ended up at the seventh place
for his team.
The Scottish showed good performance in the Hungarian Grand Prix after starting from the 11th place on the opening grid. He scored six points for the team in Hungary and now he is at 16th place in the 2011 Formula 1 drivers’ championship
with 8 points.
Talking to reporters, di Resta said, “If we had come here and something had happened, it would have been very disappointing. I've always said that there are going to be highs and lows and I hope we've had a low and are rebuilding to a high.”
Apart from that, the 25-year-old driver discussed his incident with the McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton during the Hungarian race.
He said, “It was close. But there are no hard feelings. He said that he didn't see me. He was puzzled as to why he got a penalty even after the race. Had he hit me it would have been a disappointing end. If I hadn't taken avoiding action, it would have been
a disaster.”
The team driver was pushed off the road by Hamilton during lap 47 of the race, when he was recovering from a spin of his car at the chicane in front of di Resta.
The Force India driver told the media that Hamilton apologised him for his mistake.
Di Resta’s teammate Adrian Sutil finished his race at the 14th place after starting from the eighth place on the grid.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage their second part of the ongoing season after a summer break.
