Paul di Resta rates Silverstone layout as the best – Formula 1 news
Paul di Resta has claimed that the Silverstone track layout is better than all of the other circuits on the Formula 1 calendar.
According to the Force India driver, “It's the track that makes you really appreciate what a Formula One car is capable of, especially the aerodynamic grip through the quick corners and the change of direction. Everybody talks about Maggotts and Becketts,
and there really is nothing else like them anywhere in the world.”
Moreover, the British driver is excited to race in Silverstone, as it will be his home GP.
He added, “The atmosphere is amazing and there's a sea of Union Jack flags wherever you look around the circuit. It's my home race but also that of the Team, so we'll be looking to do well and put on a good performance in front of the home crowd and so many
of our Team Partners. I can't wait.”
Di Resta has been delivering some solid results in the 2013 Formula season because of the fact that he has a competitive car. His qualifying form over the past couple of events has not been good, but he has still managed to make up for that on race day.
He will be hoping to improve his single lap pace, as that might help him fight for a podium.
The 27-year-old driver came close to finishing in the top-three in the Bahrain GP, but he was overtaken in the final moments by Lotus’ Romain Grosjean. As a result, he had to settle for fourth place in the end, which was quite pleasing for him.
However, Force India’s performance has become better since then and it seems that the British team will definitely be on the podium anytime soon in the season. No place will be better than Silverstone for them, but they will need plenty of luck.
At the moment, the Mercedes powered team is fifth in the Constructor’s Championship ahead of McLaren by 14 points. They will need to continue brining in some major updates in order to retain their position. Moreover, they might get a chance to move one more
place up, depending on what the FIA decides about Mercedes after their private test scandal.
