Paul di Resta satisfied with his Australia Grand Prix progress – Formula 1 update
Formula 1 Force India driver Paul di Resta has admitted that he is satisfied with his debut race progress in the sport.
No doubt, it was the best start of Resta in the Australian Grand Prix, as he made good performance for the Force India team.
Di Resta was the test driver of his current team in the 2011 season while during the end of the season’s races, the team confirmed him as a race driver of Force India-Mercedes.
The British driver participated in the winter testing of 2011, with his teammate Adrian Sutil. Both were very busy learning the advanced features of the new VJM04 machine, during the tough test sessions.
In the Melbourne race, the team took part with full of their action and really worked hard over the event. However, di Resta finished in tenth place while his teammate Sutil was at the ninth position following Sauber’s disqualification from the race, due
to the technical infringements in their car.
Both Resta and Sutil ended their season opening race with the two and one points respectively. The 24-year-old driver said after his debut race that the Albert Park weekend proved as a fantastic experience for him and after his successful event, he is hopeful
for some more exciting time at the Sepang circuit.
He added, “We have got off to a good start with a double-points finish in the constructors' championship, and we could not have asked for more than that. It all worked out beyond our expectations in terms of performance.”
Resta had moved towards Malaysia for the season’s second race. He said that the temperature around 30 degrees and humidity under 80 percent can make the race one of the most challenging on the 2011 season’s race calendar for the F1 drivers and their technical
squads.
He further added, “I participated in FP1 last year, but did not complete a great deal of laps. I really enjoyed the track, although the heat and humidity is much tougher than anywhere else we drive on the calendar.”
On the other hand, Force India team Principal Vijay Mallya said, he wants that his team to remain determined in the Sepang race and again stay in the top 10, as their drivers picked up supportive points for the team, at the season-opening race.
He admitted that they are confident about their car reliability ahead of the Australian race. Despite of their performance in the race they are still eager to continue the work on improving their race pace during the free practice session in Malaysia.
Mallya highly appreciated his team’s work and said, “Adrian drove a great race there last year and brought home 10 Championship points, so we have something good to build on.”
The Malaysian Grand Prix will start on April 10, 2011 with the most challenging competition, among the strong rivals of Formula 1.
