Paul di Resta says 2012 Singapore GP was his season highlight – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that his fourth place finish in the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix was his season highlight.
Di Resta has been considered as one of the most talented drivers in the field. He performed quite convincingly in this season and managed to secure 14th place finish in the drivers’ championship with 46 points.
Moreover, he stood behind the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes and ahead of Williams’ pair of drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna.
On the other hand, his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg also performed very well and secured 11th place finish in the drivers’ standings with 63 points. Additionally, the German stood ahead of his main rival, Kamui Kobayashi and behind Sergio Perez of
Sauber.
It will be important to mention that Hulkenberg is going to leave the Silverstone based squad at the end of this year and will join the Hinwil based squad in the next season as Perez’s replacement. Furthermore, the Mexican driver has signed a new multi-year
contract with McLaren where he will replace Lewis Hamilton from the next season onwards.
Although, Force India have not confirmed their next year’s driver line-up until now, however, Di Resta’s race seat is almost confirmed and he is looking forward to come up stronger in the coming year.
In addition, the British driver has said that he feels immensely pleased to secure fourth place finish in the Singapore GP which has encouraged him to perform well in the coming year.
“The high of the year was definitely Singapore. Narrowly missing out on the podium because of a safety car and finishing fourth was a crucial result and certainly a lot of hard work went into the year to achieve that,” Di Resta said.
“Certainly the likes of Sauber were getting the podium finishes and our team were being a bit left behind. I think that moment was obviously crucial for us on a track that tends to suit our car going into the last remainder races,” he added.
Let’s see who drives alongside the Briton in the next season and how he competes with his opponents.
