Force India has potential for bigger results said Paul di Resta.
The team has not been able to perform the way they hoped to have in the season mainly due to the heavy competitiveness and unpredictability of the season.
Force India finished sixth in the constructors’ standings in 2011 and wanted to penetrate the top five for 2012. They have not been able to do so in the current season so far. Williams and Sauber have shown good promise with the cars they introduced in the
season and Force India have not managed to show the pace to match up to its rivals.
They are currently placed eighth in the constructors’ but still have a good chance to improve that standing as the points gap is not very high. They are seven points behind Williams and 34 points behind Sauber.
The team has failed to finish higher than fifth in a race this season while Sauber have had a Grand Prix win at the Spanish GP and Williams have had two podium finishes with the best finish of second place from Sergio Perez at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
“There's still a long way to go in the championship and we need to get back to scoring regular points,” he said. “Last year we ended the season strongly and we need to do the same this year. Williams are not too far ahead of us but Sauber have a big points
advantage and it's going to be a big task to overcome that. But we won't give up; we'll keep pushing and see what we can do. We definitely have the potential to get some big results before the end of the year.”
The team principal Vijay Mallya has revealed that he is concerned and admits to the team’s revised target since the start of the season but still is very confident that the team can fight to finish sixth.
“We were sixth in the constructors' championship last year and we had the objective this year of coming fifth,” he said.
It will be interesting to see how the team fares as the season progresses.
