Paul di Resta says he is satisfied with his debut year in the sport – Formula 1 news
Force India driver Paul di Resta has said that he is satisfied with his debut year in the sport.
Di Resta added that the 2011 Formula 1 season has been positive for him, as he tried his best to earn decent points for his best possible ending in his first F1 championship battle.
The Brit talked to the media and stated that he is delighted with the way the Force India team has improved over the course of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Di Resta commented, “And the way that we have developed the car has been satisfying - which has helped us get some strong results in the second half of the season. We are sixth in the Championship - the highest this team has ever been, and we are fighting
hard to stay there.”
The 25-year-old driver took a positive start to the ongoing season, as he successfully scored some points for his team in the first round at the Australian racetrack.
However, the Silverstone-based outfit driver mentioned that he thinks scoring points in his first race in Australia was a big highlight of his debut year.
He went on to mention, “I think scoring points in my first race was a big highlight of the year. Your first race is always something you remember anyway. We didn't have the easiest winter developing the car so it felt good to start the year in reasonable
shape.”
After earning points in the 2011 Australian Grand Prix, di Resta was termed as the 59th driver in Formula 1 history, who scored points in his debut season.
The team driver is performing well on the grid from the last couple of races of the season. In the Korean Grand Prix, he came at the tenth place on the final race classifications after starting from the ninth position on the opening grid.
After completing 16 races of the ongoing season so far, he is placed at the 14th place with 21 points in the 2011 drivers’ championship.
Let’s see how di Resta manages his race at the recently unveiled Buddh International Circuit in India on October 30.
