Paul di Resta thinks Force India can be better in the second half of the season – Formula 1
Paul di Resta thinks that Force India can become much more competitive with its consistent performances in the second half of the year.
Force India have not had the kind of start they were looking for in the 2012 season, but have started to be much more consistent in their performances. Di Resta finished at seventh place in Monaco and it was his fourth points finish out of the six races
completed in the season so far.
The team has looked to target the fifth place in the Constructors Championship but a fierce battle between the teams this season meant that the team will have to do much more to move ahead in the ranks.
Teams like Williams, Sauber and Lotus have all shown tremendous potential in the season and have spiced up the season. At the moment Force India is only 14 points behind Williams in sixth place. During the 2011 season at about the same stage as now the team
had only scored 10 points and di Resta only contributed 2 out of the ten.
So the season has been much better for the team but the competitiveness has led them to work even harder to move up the ranks.
Di Resta felt that the team has done a better job this season and the base is also much stronger in 2012.
“I think we've demonstrated that we can carry on where we left off last year and fight for points everywhere,” di Resta said. “The teams around us are all strong, but we've shown that we are consistent and can take on teams like Lotus, Williams and Sauber,
who are all looking competitive. In terms of points scored we are well ahead of where we were this time last year so we take a lot of positives from that. I believe we can keep picking up points and be even stronger in the second half of the year.”
It will be interesting to see how Force India progresses in the season as it tries to be consistent enough to move up in the ranks.
