Paul di Resta thinks straight-line speed is crucial in the Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 News
Force India driver, Paul di Resta, has said that straight-line speed will play an important role in the Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on June 9, 2013.
Di Resta stated that they have proven their potential on every circuit in this season and are confidently looking forward to come up stronger in the approaching race.
Furthermore, he cited that the track of the forthcoming race has always suited their car, therefore they believe they can score competitive points in Canada in this season too. Besides, he expressed that they are extremely happy
to achieve the milestone of hundred races in the sport as a team. He also insisted that they must work hard to improve their straight-line pace as it will play a crucial role in the upcoming race.
“We’ve been competitive on every track this year and that’s a credit to the team, so we expect to be at our usual level once again. It’s traditionally a track that has suited us, so we go there confident that we can fight towards
the front once again. 100 races (as Force India) is a significant achievement and it’s great to see how much the team has grown during that time,” Di Resta said.
“Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is an unusual track but tends to produce exciting racing,” he said.
“Straight-line speed is important, as is a car that’s stable under braking,” he added.
Presently, he is standing at 8th place in the drivers’ championship with 28 points. Moreover, he is ahead of his main opponent, Romain Grosjean of Lotus and behind Felipe Massa of Ferrari. He has impressed everyone with
his convincing performances in the season so far.
In contrast, his teammate, Adrian Sutil is at 11th position in the drivers’ standings with 16 points and is ahead of Sergio Perez of McLaren.
Meanwhile, the Silverstone-based squad are at 5th place in the constructors’ championship with 44 points. Additionally, they are behind Mercedes and ahead of their major rival, McLaren.
It will be thrilling to see how they perform in the next race and whether they will be able to maintain their position in the championship or not.
