Paula Creamer attends golf clinic in Michigan: LPGA News
Paula Creamer, the reigning Women’s US Open winner, conducted a golf clinic at Bloomfield Hills Carl's Golfland practice range in Michigan. The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour pro talked about her urge to come to the area for a tournament.
Creamer was speaking to reporters at the course at a press conference, “When I was younger, I came here for a couple of junior tournaments. This is a great golf spot. I hope in the near future we get some tournaments out here, at least one to start off with.
The big thing here is they support women’s golf. They love women’s golf and golf in general. That means a lot to the players, to come to a place where they feel welcome.”
She also talked about rumours that were circulating in the area regarding the state being deprived of attention. She denied all such rumours and said that Michigan was equally important for golf in America. She proved her statement by recounting the number
of events that had taken place in the past in the area, which included Oldsmobile Classic in East Lansing; an LPGA event, Ford Senior Players Championship; a Champions Tour event, which took place in Dearborn in 2006 and U.S. Senior Men’s Open, which will
take place in Toledo in the near future.
The 24-year-old Creamer also mentioned the CN Canadian Women’s Open, which had been scheduled from August 25 to 28 in Mirabel. Creamer revealed she was eager to visit Canada for the tournament.
“We have a great connection with CN. The Pro-Am, everything about it, it’s a great week. There are so many great venues, and the weather’s been co-operative in the past,” said Creamer.
Creamer also answered questions about her private life and mentioned the importance of US Open in her life. The player felt proud of her achievement, but that had not affected her life. She explained that she was working really hard to retain the trophy
that lied on her kitchen table, and was hopeful of good results ahead.
The 24-year-old added that all the professionals on the LPGA tour made sure that they gave their maximum input in making the sport a bigger deal, but at the same time, they made sure it had no negative impact on their lives.
Concluding the statement, Creamer revealed how amazing she felt when people would refer to her as the 2010 US Open champion. However, according to her, that didn’t bring about too many changes in her personality.
Creamer is using her fame in spreading awareness on golf in the region and making sure that amateurs adopt it as a career one day.
