Paula Creamer attributes good finish to improved ball-striking
American Paula Creamer, who has recorded stunning finishes in the past two Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournaments, has attributed her performance to improved ball-striking.
Speaking to the LPGA Tour at the end of Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012, Creamer said that her performance has been good in some of the recent events, but what has really helped her perform well is her renewed
putting and swing expertise.
The American star faced formidable stars at the major championship held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, but she surprised her fans and the English spectators by standing firm in unpredictable weather conditions
that saw winds disrupting the play throughout the four days.
Creamer carded a 289 to take the third position on the leaderboard.
The LPGA phenom displayed exceptional length at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, despite the winds moving the ball off and on.
The American golfer said that since speed plays a pivotal role in good ball-striking, she paid more attention to that and finally managed to make several outstanding birdies in winds sweeping as fast as twenty-five
miles per hour.
“I hit the ball great.  I cannot take away from my ball-striking.  That was definitely not the issue.  It was my putting for sure.  And a little bit speed related in some aspects and you know, I'm going to
take a couple weeks off and try and refresh,” Creamer shared.
She pointed out that despite finding her lost form and regaining her putting expertise, she still has to work a lot on her game.
“But I have to continue moving forward with everything that I'm doing because like I said, I feel really good about where I'm at.  It's just a couple things here and there,” she added.
When asked what it felt like to confront Shin again, Creamer said that it was fun playing against the winner of Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012 as she had a great opportunity to hone her skills.
Shin has not only racked up a major title at British Open 2012, she also won the previous LPGA event, Kingsmill Championship 2012.
Creamer came close to a win at the Kingsmill, but Shin outrivaled her in playoff. “You always want to get compared to the best or the people that are playing the best”.
