Paula Creamer bounces back following the first round at LPGA Lotte Championship
Paula Creamer, who sought to do her best at the LPGA Lotte Championship, saw a steep rise in her leaderboard position after she posted a 67 in the second round, atoning for a worse-than-average performance on the opening day.
Creamer played well on the second day to stand tied for the 8th, as she putted more sensibly in order to consolidate her position on the leaderboard.
Creamer saw a string of disappointments in the first round of the $1.7 million event after she posted a 73 and let lesser-known players surge past her.
The American star stood tied for the 34th position on the leaderboard at the end of the first round — something that led her fans to lose hope. However, analysts said that Creamer was aware of the level of resistance, which helped her take full
advantage.
Although the second day at Ko Olina Golf Club, Hawaii, saw a blustering weather that made it hard for most players to stay focused, Creamer stood firm throughout the day.
She kicked off the second day with a clear plan, as she avoided making careless putts on the greens. She stunned her fans when she drained two straight birdies on the par-5 1st and par-4 2nd hole.
The current world number one Yani Tseng, who is standing tied for 12th, faced trouble making calculated shots in the second round.
Tseng was expected to record a solid performance, as she has been phenomenal since the start of the 2012 season.
Analysts had predicted that the top-ranked Tseng and Creamer would prove the toughest contenders at the LPGA Lotte Championship.
According to the latest stats, Creamer has outperformed the Taiwanese star. Tseng came off well in the opening round, as she posted a decent 69 to stand tied for the 2nd position on the leaderboard.
Speaking to the media at the end of the first round, Tseng said that she was happy to maintain her magic form in the Championship as well.
"Overall, I stayed patient and I made lots of good putts," Tseng said. "I still missed some, but I hung in there. It's only first day of the tournament, so I'm pretty happy today. Still on the leaderboard, still can see my name up there, so very happy".
