Paula Creamer confident after off week
American Paula Creamer, who finished inside the top 10 at the 2011 Lorena Ochoa Invitational, is set to take on rivals at the upcoming edition of the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association)
tournament.
Creamer ranks among the hot favourites for the four-round event, scheduled for November 8-11, at Guadalajara Country Club, Mexico, but her performance in some of the recent events has not
been up to the mark.
Creamer gave a miss to the last LPGA event—Mizuno Classic 2012, held in Japan last week. However, she took part in the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship and finished 13th.
A 13-place finish was not a case of job-done for the American star , but she managed to overcome her worry and found new vigour after facing disappointment in most of the matches in the current
and last season.
Apart from the Kingsmill Championship 2012 where she headed into playoff along with Jiyai Shin, Creamer has been down and out in most of the tournaments and made several mistakes that needed
to be fixed right away.
Observers said that if Creamer had been able to exhibit her usual putting skills, she would have done much better.
At Kingsmill Championship, her game went as smoothly as ever and she had almost subdued South Korean Shin, but a sloppy putt took the victory away from her.
Last year, non-Asians were dominant at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, with Scottish Catriona Matthew winning the title by four strokes.
Matthew had shared her thoughts while speaking to the LPGA Tour, saying she was more than thrilled after hoisting the title in Mexico.
She said that she did not let her nerve overcome her and kept making smooth putts on every hole.
“I just felt quite relaxed this week. I hit the ball really well last week, so I knew I was playing well. I didn't hit that many bad shots until probably the last 7 or 8 holes, so that takes
the pressure off a little bit when you're on your game,” said Matthew who is one of the veterans in the 2012 Lorena Ochoa roster.
“So I tried to concentrate on things and keep my back straighter, so that's what I was thinking about all week”.
