Paula Creamer firm to get back in winner's circle
If American Paula Creamer can display the kind of golf she did in the 2010 US Women’s Open, then Asian LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars will have a real challenge on their home soil this week, and she can sweep in winner’s circle once again.
With the 2012 Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship set to start from October 25-28, at Yang Mei, Taoyuan, Taiwan, it has become more crucial for players like Creamer to toughen up and end their long victory droughts.
According to the details, the lineup for the 78-player tournament is quite fearsome as most of the prominent LPGA contenders have been confirmed to take part in it.
Key players confirmed to tee off this Thursday include current world number one Yani Tseng, who is also the defending champion of the tournament, Azahara Munoz, Michelle Wie, Vicky Hurst, Lexi Thompson, Karin Sjodin, Suzann Pettersen, Katherine Hull, Anna Nordqvist , Karine Icher,  Chella Choi, Na Yeon Choi, Inbee Park, So Yeon Ryu, Se Ri Pak, Ai Miyazato, Candie Kung, Hee Young Park, Meena Lee, Haeji Kang, Cristie Kerr, Beatriz Recari, Jessica Korda and Pernilla Lindberg of Sweden.
Observers said that the upcoming battle will see a tougher fight than the last year, as Tseng is expected to do her best this time.
Tseng, who is facing a worst performance slump in her professional career, is under scrutiny and defending her title on home soil is her biggest concern right now.
Creamer may have made mistakes in some of the recent tournaments, but she is fit and her putting has improved quite a lot lately.
Speaking to the LPGA Tour during her pre-tournament interview on Tuesday, American golfer said that she knows what it has been like to remain winless over the last two years, but she has now decided to take her game more aggressively than ever before.
When asked what the current season has been like, she said that she is happy with her performance in the 2012 year, although the start was a bit jittery.
“Hopefully pretty close. It’s been kind of an up-and-down year but the last few months have been a lot more solid for me,” said Creamer whose profile boasts nine LPGA titles.
