Paula Creamer happy with performance at British Open 2012
American Paula Creamer did not look rattled at all after she birdied the 18th hole in the final round of Ricoh Women’s British Open 2012, finishing third on the leaderboard.
Creamer battled top-ranked Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) contenders for the coveted title at Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, United Kingdom, but South Korean Jiyai Shin was quick enough to
grab a big lead as she shot a stunning  64 in the second round.
The LPGA phenom carded an overall 289.
Although Creamer played well throughout the four rounds, the lead maintained by Shin hampered all the contenders from rising to the top.
With second round called off due to unfavourable weather conditions and gusty winds, the tournament cut was reduced to 36 holes, which required the players complete their rounds within a much tighter schedule
than usual.
Creamer looked confident on Sunday despite getting off a rickety start that saw her shoot a 73 in the opening round.  The fourth round saw the American star par the first two holes, but carded a bogey on the
par-4 third.
On the back nine, Creamer’s performance remained average as she registered two birdies, one eagle and three bogeys.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of the final round on Sunday, the 26-year-old star said that she may not have been able to rise to the top, but her performance was above-average throughout the four days.
“Oh, my goodness.  We had that little break on the par 3, 15, and I had about a six-, seven-footer and it kind of just got all sort of back together.  I made that and had a lot of confidence the last couple
holes,” she said.
Creamer said that her game has clearly got better in the last few weeks because her swing and strokes were perfect, which also helped her improve overall ball-striking performance.

“It's a great way to finish.  I played really well.  Even, you know, before that, I was hitting the ball well.  It's just one of those things where the putter kind of let me down at times, but you know, overall
in the big picture, I'm pretty pleased with how I played this week,” the LPA titan added.
