Paula Creamer improves game after injury
Paula Creamer, who had been a fearsome contender before getting hit by a nagging injury, appears to have improved her game once again.
Creamer recently participated in the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship, where she proved her mettle by finishing tied for the 20th.
Creamer displayed a steady performance right from the beginning of the $2 million major championship, as she carded a stunning 69 in the first round.
She kicked off the tournament with plenty of confidence and surprised fans who had not expected her to play so well.
Analysts had said well before the Kraft Nabisco Championship that Creamer was likely to bounce back in the current season, as she exhibited a grim performance in the 2011 season.
Currently ranked 10th, Creamer is gradually improving her game and trying to fix lapses that were caused by the debilitating injury.
Observers said that the first-round performance at Kraft Nabisco highlighted the true potential of the American prodigy.
Due to tackling the injury for months, Creamer saw her usual putting skills worsen, but managed to fix the lapses within a relatively short period of time.
They said she had been facing trouble making calculated putts that were once her trademark. Once back in full from, Creamer resumed training on the practice range, with special focus on putting.
Analysts said that scoring a 285 in the first major championship of the 2012 season is something Creamer herself did not anticipate.
The field of the Kraft Nabisco Championship was strong enough to trouble players, but Creamer kept the pressure on most of her rivals.
Although she could not finish in the top-10 at the Mission Hills Country Club, getting rid of the injury has paid off in terms of an improved form.
The 25-year-old star has been seeking to end her victory drought since 2010 US Women’s Open. In order to regain her lost momentum, Creamer said that she was working on new swing techniques.
Speaking at the occasion of the 2012 RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup, she said that she has improved her yardage, which is proving productive for her.
"I'm hitting it much further off the tee when I hit it good," she said. "I've definitely picked up yardage, which is something I was trying to do".
