Paula Creamer looks to atone for lapses at Hawaii and Mobile Bay LPGA Classic
Paula Creamer, who has been winless since the last season, has decided to put her skills to test in the LPGA Lotte Championship and the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, scheduled to be played this month.
The LPGA Lotte Championship is going to start from April 18 to April 21, at Ko Olina Golf Club, Hawaii, with a strong field that also includes the current world number one Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen.
Creamer has been training hard since she suffered a nagging injury. The injury took a toll on her performance, keeping her from proving her worth on the course.
Creamer herself was aware of the impact caused by the injury, which is why, she spent weeks in tough training on the practice range, assessing where she might improve.
The Lotte Champions is important for the American star, as she will have an opportunity to capitalise on the home crowd, but she will also have to keep a close eye on players like Sun Young Yoo.
Yoo is one of the hot favourite contenders for the title at Hawaii, as she is in her best form after winning her first major victory at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Analysts said that Creamer is likely to face tough resistance from her rivals, as she still lacks the capability to battle top-ranked players.
However, they said that the player has shown resilience after her recovery from the debilitating injury.
The 25-year-old participated in the Kraft Nabisco Champion held at the Mission Hill County Club. She proved her critics wrong by performing well, as she finished tied for the 20th.
She displayed a stunning performance in the first round, as she carded a 69. However, posting a 73 in the next round put a drag on her advances.
Moreover, fully-fit Creamer will have another opportunity to prove her mettle, as the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic is set to begin from April 26-29, at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course.
Like the LPGA Lotte Championship, the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic will also feature a strong field, comprising giants such as the defending champion Maria Hjorth, Se Ri Pak, Karrie Webb and Christina Kim.
Although the 25-year-old American has dropped to 10th in the world women’s golf rankings, she still has what it takes to carve out a victory.
