Paula Creamer looks to perform well at Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012
American Paula Creamer knows that holding her nerve on the course is all it takes to grab a victory. This is why, she has decided to participate in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 with a more solid plan.
Winless since June 2010, Creamer has vowed to do her best in the upcoming tournaments, especially the US Open. She won the 2010 US Women’s Open, her first major victory.
However, events like Manulife LPGA Classic can also play a pivotal role in improving her profile. The tournament is set to be played from June 21-24, at Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, with a strong field featuring strong LPGA contenders.
Creamer may not find it easy to beat rivals like Stacy Lewis, who has confirmed her commitment for the tournament, but she has what it takes to trouble her rivals.
Analysts said that Creamer has been desperately seeking to add shine to her profile, but due to a nagging injury, she had been facing trouble getting back on track.
Creamer had to fight through the debilitating injury to grab a victory at the 2010 US Women’s Open.
Now, with some of the competent LPGA stars having confirmed their commitment for the tournament, the American prodigy has decided to put her skills to test.
The players who have confirmed their participation include Michelle Wie from the United States, Lorie Kane from Canada, Alena Sharp, American Natalie Gulbis, Cristie Kerr, Suzann Pettersen and Ai Miyazato of Japan.
Analysts said that although the field has yet to be completed, it is expected that the players will see a tough battle.
Creamer performed well at the second major tournament of the 2012 season, the Wegmans LPGA Classic, as she finished inside the top-10. She displayed a decent performance in the final round, as she fired a 71.
When asked how she found the field and the course, the 25-year-old said that she played comfortably but could not finish off as she had planned.
She said that although she was not very happy with her performance, she still did better than most of the big names.
“I think my attitude was actually pretty good out there. I just kept on giving myself chances, just trying, plugging,” Creamer said.
