Paula Creamer needs fiery start to 2013 campaign
Among several LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) contenders who will start their 2013 season, Paula Creamer is the one who has made up her mind about making a fiery comeback.
Creamer has been a strong contender on the Tour since turning professional back in 2004, but her latest performance has been worse than average.
A protracted performance slump is what she has decided to deal with. With most of the LPGA stars making their name in the 2012 season, it has now become crucial for the 26-year-old to toughen up and prove her worth once again.
The recently concluded season went without a victory—a downer but a resilient Creamer did enough in some tournaments to keep her game in shape.
She was able to record seven top-ten finishes. Thanks to strong finishes in some of the key tournaments such as Kingsmill Championship 2012, the American golfer boosted her overall earnings to a whopping $815,574
The Kingsmill Championship was the scene of a nail-biting battle that saw Creamer take the second position on the leaderboard. She posted an overall score of 268, outrivaling stars like current world number one Yani Tseng and Stacy Lewis of the United States.
The 2013 season will be fraught with plenty of challenges. Asian fury is not the only factor that is likely to trouble the LPGA phenom, but she will also have to reshape her game.
Creamer is known for her solid putting and swing, but the recent tournaments have seen her falter on the greens, making sloppy shots that did not do justice to her past stats.
Another 2012 tournament that saw Creamer push herself to the limits was Ricoh Women’s British Open. She carded an overall score of 289 to take the third position on the leaderboard.
Speaking at the end of the tournament, Creamer had said that she had been able to fix most of the flaws in her putting and now she was back on track again. Speaking of how hard it had been to deal with a victory drought, she said that ending her lacklustre stint was her top priority, but she needed some time to adjust to new conditions.
