Paula Creamer quits HSBC Women's Champions after 2nd round
Paula Creamer, who was determined to prove her worth in the HSBC Women’s Champions, surprised her fans when she decided to withdraw from the event after the second round.
The event at Tanah Merah Country Club was going smoothly and Creamer completed 2 rounds by carding 71 and 74.
According to sketchy details, Creamer allegedly stormed off the course due to family reasons.
Despite what caused the world number 5 to leave the event incomplete, Creamer faced a little disappointment, as she had been seeking to break her winning drought.
The HSBC Women’s Champions featured a number of leading players that included the current world number one Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen.
According to the match details, Angela Stanford from American won the event in the playoff. However, Creamer will have to wait for upcoming events to prove her worth.
It is being said that her withdrawal from the HSBC Women’s Champions will not demoralize Creamer, as she is expected to join the course once she is ready.
The American star has been trying to bounce back in the current season, because she remained out of form in the 2011 season.
Despite her lapses and a nagging injury that she had been battling for months, Creamer started the current season in an impressive style.
Her first event of the year was Honda LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Thailand. Although she could not steal the show, she finished tied for 49th.
Creamer said after the LPGA Thailand that she was glad she finally resumed her career after a bad period.
She said that she gained substantial confidence after her performance at Siam Country Club, Thailand.
Creamer is best known for winning the 2010 US Open at Oakmont. She was stunning, despite the fact that she was fighting injuries while playing on the course.
After winning her first major, the American prodigy said that she would now ask those who always doubted her performance when it came to big events.
"That question always lurked: `How come you never won a major?’ Now we never have to get asked that question again. It's kind of a big relief off my shoulders," she had said.
Creamer may not have proven her mettle at Tanah Merah Country Club this week. Nonetheless, there are going to be a number of prestigious events in which she can atone for her losses.
