Paula Creamer set to bounce back in the 2012 season
Paula Creamer, who has been battling nagging injuries for the past several months, said that she is in high spirits these days and the 2012 season has given her a new hope to get on the winning track again.
American Creamer’s performance was grim last season, as all she could do was see her rivals beat her.
With no wins on her profile, the 2011 season was probably the worst of all in Creamer’s career.
Now that the 2012 is already under way at Royal Melbourne, Creamer has much to do before she can start adding victories to in her profile.
However, her debilitating injuries have been troubling her for a long time. The American LPGA star had been phenomenal in most of the events that she participated in.
In 2006, Creamer saw her ranking and performance slump, as she could not even record a single victory.
Although her journey was abruptly stopped by foot and wrist injuries, keeping her off the course for days, she was still amazing when it came to money.
She managed to pocket over $1 million. Since she was already faltering, the only tournament she could play good was The Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions. She finished tied for 2nd.
The year 2007 brought many surprises to Creamer. She bounced back in the season, racking up 2 titles on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association).
Her performance in the 2007 Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions was nothing short of amazing. She outplayed her nearest rival Birdie Kim by 8 shots, winning the title.
The troubled American was happy yet again in 2010 when she won the US Women’s Open.
Before entering the course, Creamer was skeptical about her game because she thought she was not fully fit to play the event.
Surprisingly, she came off well and won the event. She herself was not sure how she managed to record a victory.
Meanwhile, analysts had already written her off as unfit. Her putting that had been grim due to her painful thumb appeared to be excellent.
After making a score of 3-under 281, Creamer received a deluge of questions about how she won the major title when in reality she had already lost hope.
“That question always lurked: 'How come you never won a major?'” said the American while talking at a news conference.
"Now we never have to get asked that question again. It's kind of a big relief off my shoulders," she stated.
The 2010 season started with disappointment as she had to quit the 1st event. Creamer faced a huge setback in 2009, when she suffered a thumb injury.
She eventually had to take a protracted break from the sport because of that. The injury inflicted in 2009 took the worst shape at the start of 2010.
She had to consult her therapist to tackle the unwanted situation, who advised her to pay more attention to the injury than making strokes on the course.
When she was informed that she would have to undergo surgery to fix her injury, she reacted with patience and agreed to do all she could do to remove the problem.
In an interview she said: “Surgery? Is it a possibility? Yes it is. But every doctor and I have decided we're going to do everything we can possibly do before I'd have to do that”.
Although Creamer has now fixed her injuries, it remains to be seen whether she can bounce back in the current season.
Keeping in view her magic form and resilience in the past events, one cannot rule out a tough fight from her.
