Paula Creamer ties for third position in second round of Evian Masters 2012
American Paula Creamer, who tied for the sixth spot at the end of the first round of Evian Masters 2012, shot a 67 in the second round to share the third position along with South Korean Inbee Park.
Creamer looked in a sold form on Friday at Evian-les-Bains, France, as she was determined not to surrender to her nerve. She played good strokes on most of the holes and kept her nearest rivals in trouble most
of the day.
The American star kicked off the second day in an impressive style as she fired her first birdie on the difficult par-3 second hole. She then parred four holes in a row and launched her second birdie on the
par-5 7th hole.
Creamer, who has vowed to record a victory in the current season, not only battled fearsome contenders in the roster of LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament, but also searing heat that rattled
players off and on throughout the second day.
The LPGA giant bagged praise from her fans and the French spectator after she drained her third birdie on the 9th hole. On the back nine, Creamer maintained her momentum and avoided making sloppy
strokes. She recorded two birdies on the 10th and 18th hole.
Analysts said that Creamer is one of the American players giving a tough time to their Asian rivals. Although the second spot is held by Ilhee Lee, a South Korean contender, it is expected that the next rounds
will see an even tougher battle among big names.
Speaking to the media at the end of the round, the star golfer said that she is not going to walk away without putting up a tough fight, and she will try her best to keep the momentum going in the third and
fourth round as well.
“I only missed two greens today, which is a lot better than yesterday.  One of my strengths in my game is irons and just giving myself opportunities, and today I kind of took advantage of that and made some
good putts and also left some out there,” Creamer said.
“It will be an exciting weekend, that's for sure.  Hopefully the weather holds off for us, too”.
