Argentina vs. Canada
Paula Reggiardo
Paula Reggiardo racked up a game-high 18 points in Argentina’s 61-59 win over Canada. The 5 ft 10 in shooting guard also grabbed three rebounds and stole the ball three times in nearly 31 minutes of action. Paula went 7 for 13
from the field in the game, including 4 for 8 from three-point range.
Carolina Sanchez
Carolina Sanchez also recorded a double-double for the Argentineans. The 35-year-old power forward scored 13 points and pulled down a game best 10 boards in the victory. Sanchez was 4 for 10 from the floor and 4 for 7 from free
throw line.
Chelsea Aubry
Chelsea Aubry headed the Canadians with 14 points on 6 for 9 shooting from the floor, pinning 2 of 3 shots from downtown. The Canadian centre also grabbed five rebounds in the game.
Lizanne Murphy
Lizanne Murphy, who scored just four points in their previous victory against Jamaica, got her shooting touch back and chipped in 11 points. The forward also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists for Canada. The 27-year-old
finished on 3 for 7 from the field and 3 for 6 from the line.
Brazil vs. Cuba
Erika De Souza Machado
Atlanta Dreams’ Erika De Souza Machado led all the scorers with 20 points in Brazils’ 66-53 victory over Cuba. The 29-year-old centre also grabbed six rebounds as Brazil qualified for the final of the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship
women's basketball tournament. De Souza Machado, who is averaging 16.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in the tournament, hit a brilliant 10 for 13 from the field.
Damiris Dantas
Damiris Dantas scooped out 11 points and six rebounds for Brazil, hitting 4 for 8 shots that came her way.
Adriana Pinto
Adriana Pinto was magnificent on the night. The 32-year-old guard registered a rebounds-assists double-double with 13 rebounds and 12 assists and was just one point short of triple double. She also blocked two shots on the night.
Yamara Amargo
Yamara Amargo was the only bright spot for Cuba. She was the only Cuban player who reached double figures in scoring with 16 points on a 7 for 13 shooting from the field. Amargo also contributed four rebounds and three steals in
the loss.
