The former Bayern Munich striker admits that the club made the right decision in not signing Robinho from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c32532.
Sergio was working as a scout for the Bavarian giants 10 years ago when he had recommended the Brazilian international. He revealed that Bayern refused to ponder over a possible transfer which had left him clueless. But the former
player admitted that the Munich club made the right decision as Robinho’s performances have not been up to the mark.
Robinho was linked with a host of clubs in the summer of 2005, including Bayern Munich, but eventually opted to move to Real Madrid. Since then, the striker has had inconsistent spells with Manchester City and AC Milan.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 claimed that he did not understand back then why Bayern refused to sign the player who looked to have immense talent. But he insists that now he totally backs the decision as the transfer would have been a waste of money
back then. He stated that Robinho is definitely not an extraordinary player and the Munich giants have been better off with their decision to not sign him.
“I think a transfer would have been possible, so I called Munich and asked if there was an interest. Bayern refused: they simply would not have http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robinho-c31382. Back then, I did not understand it. Bayern were quite right. Although he plays
for Milan, he is nothing special,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the former Brazilian international played down comparisons of the current Bayern side to the team that won the UEFA Champions League in 2001. He stated that the current squad lacks depth and heavily relies on
the likes of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Mario Gomez.
“Then they had 16 players on a high level. That was the key for the Champions League title. Such depth is currently lacking. If two of Franck Ribery, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521, Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez are out, the attack no longer works,”
he concluded.
Bayern Munich have been unable to win Europe’s premier club competition after 2001. They reached the final 2010 but lost to Italian giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
