Pavel Nedved returns to Juventus in a directorial role
Juventus FC legend Pavel Nedved has returned to the club in non player role. The former winger has joined the Bianconeri board of directors and looked ecstatic as he answered the press.
“The people love me and I will do all I can to make them love me more, I am very happy. This is a big emotion for me. If I could return to the pitch I would play with Milos Krasic - imagine us on the wings.”
Nedved played for the Turin giants from 2001 to 2009 and won a plethora of trophies with the club. Juventus shelled out a handsome 41 million Euros on the former Lazio winger. The player was signed as a replacement for Zinedine Zidane who had left the club
for the riches of Real Madrid the same summer.
Nedved’s impact at the club was even greater than the legendary Frenchman as the Czech winger won the 2003 Ballon d’Or on the back of some truly stupendous performances. Juventus lost to AC Milan in the final of UEFA Champions League as Nedved was suspended.
Following the Calciopoli scandal, Nedved was one of the few players who showed loyalty to the Bianconeri cause when Juventus were relegated in 2006. Despite of nearing the end of his career and at a stage when players want to make most of their time, Nedved
helped the club climb back in to the top flight football – a move that brought the legend even closer to the fans.
Nedved was approached by Juventus hierarchy earlier this year but Czech legend had refused to return citing family reasons. Nedved has said he wanted to spend more time with his family. However, President Andrea Agnelli seems to have succeeded with his lure.
"I am delighted to have him in the board," said the chief. “Pavel represents Juventus history and values that we want to transmit to the team."
Juventus had a terrible management last year and the transfer market activity by the club directors was a laughing stock for the entire peninsula. With appointment of legends like Nedved, Bianconeri now seem to be on the right track.
