Paver Patio?

I am putting in a paver patio. The ground in my backyard is very rocky. I have roughly leveled off the area. My question is since I have two drains, do I need to put in a 4-5 inch layer of gravel or can I just put in the black paper and bedding sand?

The balck paper and a good bedding of sand should do. Remember to slope slightly away from house and to the drains.
