Pavers Star open to improvement in Fearless Freddie The Place To Bet Handicap at Musselburgh
Noel Wilson’s 3-year-old, Pavers Star, has returned to form recently, and may improve further in the Fearless Freddie The Place To Bet Handicap, being held at Musselburgh on Monday, September 17th.
Owned by Mrs Michael John Paver, the gelding went through a bad patch early in the season. He made a couple of good outings in defeat at the start of the season, but could not continue the good work thereafter.
However, he quickly got his act together. In mid August, the son of Pastoral Pursuits unleashed his talent to secure the runner-up spot in the Mad Hatter Tea Company Handicap at Catterick.
It was no more than an unlucky defeat for him, as he missed the crown only by half a length. A decent performance boosted up his confidence, which he utilised last time out. Registering his maiden win, Pavers Star stamped his rivals in the Beverley Lions
Handicap (Div I) at the end of last month.
Under Neil Farley, he was with the leader early on. With the help of an extra effort, he managed to lead a few furlongs before the wire. He railed quite nicely to stretch his advantage towards the finish, and consequently seized the top rank by half a length.
After two classy acts, the Mrs C. K. Paver-bred is in great shape. However, he needs to come up with an even better show to topple this opposition. On good to firm, a dozen horses, including Pavers Star, will compete for a cash prize worth £2,588. The plan
is to start the class 5 affair at 17:10 GMT.
Imperial Legend is another to consider. Although the 3-year-old was not impressive on his previous visit here, one must not overlook his chances especially after a couple of consecutive wins at Ayr.
After topping the table by half a length in the Champagne G.H. Mumm Cordon Rouge Handicap, he presented another fascinating show in the Kopparberg Naked Apple Handicap in mid August.
Both Pavers Star and Imperial Legend are looking solid following their recent success. The former should be preferred, as he is open to further improvement. Good luck to all the horses.
