Pavit Tangkamolpraser emerges as the winner at Khon Kaen Championship – Thai PGA Tour
The Thai PGA Tour event of Singha Park Khon Kaen Championship finally came to a conclusion today. It was an exciting final day where the top two had to face-off each other in a playoff. Overnight leader
Wisut Artjanawat and Pavit Tangkamolprasert faced each other in a play-off.
Both these players were tied after four days having a score of fourteen-under par, 274. They had to play an extra hole to decide the winner. Pavit made a birdie on the first extra hole and won the championship.
Wisut was disappointed as he had a long birdie putt, which barely missed the hole.
Pavit played beautifully on the final day. He came from behind and carded a fantastic round of three-under par, 69. The conditions were certainly a little tough as the course was playing a little long.
The pin placements were not easy for all the players.
Pavit, the youngster managed his way and overcame the pressure situation. He had a total of four birdies on his scorecard. His only bogey on the final day was at the par-4, 6th where his tee
shot was sliced as he did not see the wind direction. This was a great performance by the youngster who curbed the challenge of his opponents on the final day and won the championship.
The youngster Pavit had a four-day aggregate score of fourteen-under par and was three shots clear of his nearest competitor after the play-off. This victory gave him a lot of confidence and is hoping
to add a few more to his career.
Playing on the final day is not easy. The weather was on the high side as a few top players failed to card under par rounds.
As for the overnight leader Wisut, he was disappointed not to have won this championship. He managed a moderate round of two-under par, 70 under tough playing conditions. He had a total of three birdies
and just a single bogey. His day did not start with a good start as had to drop a shot on the very first hole. Certainly, there was pressure on him in the play-off, but his opponent was too good on the final day. He had to be content with the second spot on
the score board.
Jakkapong Juntavar was third. He was three shots behind the champion and had a total score of eleven-under par. Juntavara also managed to post a brilliant round of two-under par, 70. His round included
five birdies and three bogeys. He was disappointed with the bad bogeys he made during the final day.
Somchai Pongpaew came fourth after the championship concluded. He had a four day score of ten-under par, 278.
Wisut picked up the cheque and the winner’s trophy at the prize distribution ceremony.
