Were either of these fights as good as the media said? And if youc ould rate any of them (1-10 scale) what would you rate them?

I'm trying to get into boxing now, and I can't start that without seeing a really good fight.

If you'd like, throw in a fight you feel was "great".

  1. watch one good fight you are hooked....

a great fight is any fight with manny pac-man paquiou (spelling?) he is a great fighter. also the litter weight the better the fight. heavy weight can't move as much as light weight fighters.. never as good.. to me anyway

  2. fight one was one of the best i have ever seen.fight two was not as good as the first but because the first was so great it makes this fight worth a watch.

  3. Well the first fight went way over any expectations, it was a middleweight classic and a all time great.  Slugfest, knockdowns, and a viscious KO at the end and a new face in boxing.  The second didnt get quite to the high expectations of what everyone was expecting, but they both showed great chins, good defense, taylor showed power at times, and pavlik showed he can win a fight without a KO,i think both of them elevated their stature but pavlik more, b/c everyone thought he was a KO artist who throws that great right hand which is tru, but he outboxed a better faster handed opponent, with a great jab, that jab might be the best in boxing, it sets up his power, and baks the opponent away, so i think the first one was a 9 b/c it had everything maybe a ten cus i neva saw a fight like that with so much action, but the second one id give a 7, if it had a KO wouldve been a 9 but still great fighters have great fights and those were great 19 rounds between the two best.

  4. The first match was an instant classic. It had all the elements and drama one could want. Two undefeated fighters, a knockdown, a come back, an against all odds victory... Pavlik was hurt with two minutes to go in the second round and was unable to hold on yet he should perseverence and heart surviving. He was behind on all cards going into the 7th round and turned the tables on Jermaine Taylor to knock him out. This was a great fight.

The second one was a fight more for the boxing purist and not necessarily a classic. It was a good fight, one that both fighters needed. Taylor needed it to gain some confidence back after losing his first match and being knocked out. Pavlik needed it to prove to himself that he could go 12 rounds as he never had an opponent last more than 8. Pavlik won the fight by decision but both fighters gained a little victory just because of how the fight went.

    Other fights I reccommend:

    The Morrales Barerra trilogy

    The Ghatti Ward trilogy

  5. On  a scale of 1-10 (ten being the greatest) I would give the first fight a 9 and the second fight a 6.  The first was great one of the best of 2007 and the second fight was just above average but worth watching if you saw the first.  A great fight and the 2007 fight of the year would be Rafael Marquez vs Israel Vasquez II, this as a pure slug fest with nonstop action (a perfect 10).
