David Bentley is hoping to enjoy a fine spell at the Rostov based club after moving to the Russian Premier League club from Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Lokomotiv Moscow newbie, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639, convinced him to join the ambitious Russian Premier League outfit this season.
The 28-year-old winger, who was originally signed by former Real Madrid manager, Juande Ramos, for a reported 15 million Euros fee from Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, has left the White Hart Lane for Russian league.
However, things started to get worse for the talented winger when the English outfit parted company with Ramos. Though the arrival of Harry Redknapp helped the Spurs in securing European berth within no time, it did not help Bentley
in getting regular first team action.
The former West Ham United player failed to impress Redknapp after sustaining repeated injuries during his first season under the 65-year-old coach.
“Pavlyuchenko is a good friend of mine. He told me a lot about the Russian championship. I cannot wait to enter the field to play matches against Dynamo Moscow, Spartak Moscow and Rubin Kazan. I will hark harder to retain my fitness
in order to help my new club.”
“I will play few games here and then will decide about a possible return to England or not. I want to enjoy games here. I hoped that the arrival of Villas Boas will help me but it did not work for me.” The Vodacom challenge winner
was quoted as saying.
The 5 feet 8 inch winger is set to make his debut at Stadion Olimp 2 against Dynamo Moscow, the Russia outfit he snubbed to join Rostov.
The Dinamiki believed that the lure of UEFA Europa League football will help them in getting Bentley’s signature. However, the Moscow-based club failed to sign the English star following a deadline day swoop by the Selmashi.
