Question:

Pay for an investment banking internship?

I was wondering what the pay is for an intern at a bulge bracket investment bank? How does that compare to what you might get paid at a smaller firm?

Also, is it likely that an interviewer would talk about pay, or should an interviewee ask about it at an interview?

  1. ~$1,150 pre-tax. Smaller firms can pay more or less - it depends. (although most likely less unless you're working at a place such as HLHZ, which is almost as competitive as the BB anyway).

  2. The minute you show interest in compensation over the content of the job and your ability to fill it properly you are on a path to an unhappy business career.  So the question you asked can be brought up in the interview. You will have to deal with that.
