I live and work in Louisiana upon starting a job i was promised a pay rate I did not receive (being less) according to my information other co employees i work with experienced the same problem. the reason we were giving they could not give the pay quoted because sales were not up, I'm sure there is some labor law against this, but i doubt i can get the other employees to come forward, we all need our jobs is there another way to have this situation investigated with out risking our jobs, it pays min wage but we were promised more.

  1. Call the labour board anonymously.

  2. I'm not so sure this is a labor law issue as it is breach of an oral contract.  The reason I say it's not a violation of the labor law is that you are making minimum wage.  The oral contract is an issue because I imagine you didn't get anything in writing stating what you would be making per hour--who ever does?  So it's your word against theirs, unless your co-workers intend to speak up, and most of them probably won't for fear of losing their jobs.  Finally there is the fact that you have all continued to work despite the fact that you're making less per hour than you were promised.  Once you cash your paychecks, you're agreeing that's the amount of money you're due.  It stinks, but that's the way it is, unfortunately.  You would, however, have nothing to lose by consulting a labor attorney to see if you have any options at all.  Most will give you an initial consultation for free and you can make your decision from there.  Good Luck =)
