I need some advice.. I'm selling a computer for 1600$, and I have a potential buyer, I would like the money to be sent to PayPal, so I was wondering how I go about changing the maximum transaction to above 500$. Also, how would the deal take place, should the buyer send the money via PayPal, and then once I recieve it, I send the package? Is there any way that once the money is in my PayPal, that he could reject, and take it back, and while the package is still at his house? I just don't want to get scammed or anything. Thanks for any advice...

  1. That is too large of a transaction to take a chance.  As mentioned above, the buyer can easily take back the money thru paypal (either as unauthorized access, or just "never received it"), and it will be a nightmare, and take forever, trying to prove anything from your end.

It is already highly suspicious that you have a craigslist buyer that wants you to "ship" the computer.  Wait for a local buyer, that you can meet in person and get cash from them.

  2. There is always a chance.  I sold something once on ebay, took paypal. Once the package was shipped, the money was taken back saying that the "buyers" paypal account had been broken into.

Since paypal usually sides with the buyer, they won.  It's possible someone's account was hacked into, but i didn't believe it. After that I closed my account and never used paypal again.

Just beware.  Paypal will side with the buyer if they say they never bought the item, especially when you cant prove you sent it (certified mail).
