Question:

PayPal scam? Unconfirmed address.?

I just sold something on eBay and the person paid using PayPal. I'm a little worried about the buyer because he has an unconfirmed address and the payment is not covered by the seller protection policy. I've asked for him to confirm his address, but all he has done is leave feedback in hopes of releasing the "on hold, ship now" status. I've also asked why he won't confirm his address, but now I'm not getting any reply.

What should I do and what are the risks involved?

  1. I have been using paypal for approx 5 years and have just ventured into a small business. You are right to be cautious as this may well be a scam, a measure of which is often the buyers/ sellers ability to communicate.

If you ship to an unconfirmed address and the buyer says the goods have not been received you may lose both goods and your money.  I would mail your buyer with a further message requesting a confirmed address or contact details with tel number, stating if they do not come back you will unfortunately have to refund the payment and re-list.

If you have to re-list, do so clearly stating you will ship to confirmed addresses only within your listing.

Hope this is of some use!
