Paycheck HELP?

on my first paycheck only one type of tax was taken out (federal) and then my current check different types of taxes were taken out (federal, state, retirement, medicare) and also on the paid stub below earnings the title is different. 1st check said "student asst" and the 2nd one it said "regular" does that make a difference as to how much money they take out?

  1. The first check you were paid through a student assistant program(in my state it is called work-study program) this money is only subject to federal tax however once it it used up you get paid just as you would from any other employer which means that you must pay all normal tax stuff

    Again I'm not positive but that how it works at my state/school
