For paypal, I know I can send payments but can people send payments to me? I have just a normal account. So do I have to open some special account or can my account receive payment from others?

  1. No, they can send to you with just your normal account.

  2. To your first question, yes, you can receive payments from others. The only limit for "Personal" accounts (that I know of) are that you can't accept credit card payments and you can only withdraw $400 a month from Paypal to your bank account.

Second, no you don't have to have a "Special" account to receive payments, unless they pay with a credit card.

In that case Paypal will prompt you to upgrade to a "Business" account, which is free but Paypal takes a small percentage of the money that someone sends you (less than 2%).
