Paypal-clearing money?

Question

On Sunday i bought a NES console with some games and the postage on it was 12 pounds with Parcel-force 24 and it's estimated delivery was 1-2 working days. Due to yesterday being a bank holiday i expected it to be delivered today, tomorrow or friday.

This morning however the seller said he won't be sending the package until the paypal payment has cleared, because he needs the postage money so he can pay for sending it. I sent the money through paypal as soon as i won the auction, Sunday night.

So, how long does paypal usually take to clear money and when do you think my package will arrive?

if you didnt have money in your paypal account to cover the whole transaction or pay by credit card, paypal will draw the money from your bank account. the time it takes to clear depends on your bank. could be a couple of days to a week. ask your seller what the expected clearing date is.

It sounds like he is waiting for the money to be transferred form his paypal account to his bank account (4-5 working days), which is wrong. When you pay by paypal it is in the other persons paypal account immediately, unless you pay by echeque which can take up to 14 days to clear. The seller is being very unfair expecting you to wait when you paid in good faith. Wait until you receive the goods then let other people know what he does in your feedback, he as a seller cannot leave you negative feedback in return.

The funds clear right away with PayPal unless you sent an echeck...that is paying, but the money is not in your paypal account and has to come from your bank account first...did you do that...if not and yo had the money in your paypal it already cleared....what he might mean is he has to have it sent to his bank account first which can take up to 8 business days.  How long it will take once sent is hard to say as I don't know the ship location or the location of you or the type of shipping method.  If the parcel has not arrived after 4weeks of pay date...then file item not received through paypal.

The money should already be in his PP account and it takes about 3 days for it to clear into his bank a/c. The problem is at his end and not yours and he should have sent it as soon as he got the funds in his pp a/c.Personally i think he wants to waste time by not sending it til it has cleared.

it should have cleared instantly, unless you sent an e-cheque, which take ages.

don't do it once pay pal has cleared the money, you have no re-coarse if he doesn't send it, thats the idea of it, you pay them they hold it until you recieve it and are happy with it, then they release it into his account, sounds to me like they are trying to have you over, once they have your money you won't here from them again ! too risky, buy another one
