I sold 100 DVDs to a man in hawaii. they were picked up by post master on june 27th. they were going to hawaii media mail. I have proof of shipping and proof that the the mail lady picked them up from my door. well this guy i sold to filed a dispute on july 15 wanting his money back. I have spoke with the post office in hawaii and they say it can take up too over a month with it being Media mail. well today i get a message that pay pal is forcing me to pay this guy back $200. I'm upset because i know these dvds will be there any day and i will never get my money back. what to do????

  1. First of all, go to http://www.nopaypal.com and then contact the Attorney General's office in California.

I got some of my money back from them, but will never see it all, but at least the Attorney General is tired of the complaints and will go up against them.

Paypal will tell you upfront that they are on good terms with the AG and the Better Business Bureau, trying to make you think that that they have them in their pockets, but Paypal and Ebay are liars and nothing could be further from the truth.

Go after them and complain to anyone who will listen!

That is what I do and some day, maybe we can shut those scumbags down!

  2. You should have bought delivery confirmation. Paypal doesn't care if you have receipts to prove you shipped the item -- all they care about is whether the recipient actually received the item. And only the tracking number can help.

Without the tracking number, I'm afraid you're out with Paypal.

I know it sucks, but that's how their rules are set. Even credit card companies behave that way -- once a customer complains of non receipt of the items, you as the merchant has to prove that the person actually RECEIVED the item through the tracking number

The problem you have without a tracking number is that the buyer can claim they haven't received the item yet received it. And you have no way to prove that they did. Afterall, the post office can lose packages

  3. Did you buy Delivery or Signature confirmation for the shipment (so when it does get delivered, you have proof of delivery)?

Unfortunately, PayPal will side with the buyer if you can't prove delivery.

The only chance you will have, is if the guy is honest when he receives them, and offers to pay, or returns them to you.

Paypal isn't really s******g you over....it's just the timeline is off (their investigation ended before delivery actually occured).  If delivery does happen, and you DO have proof, they will re-open the claim.

Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but there's not much you can do.

For next time, buy delivery confirmation and Insured Mail options when shipping something with that much value.
