Paypal question, on shipping an item?

if i buy something from someone off the internet, not ebay. and the seller sends me the item before i pay him, what well happen if i dont send him payment. and is this normal to send before getting payment. Of course i well send the payment, i am just curious

You could keep it, but if the seller has proof of your purchase and delivery , they can dispute it with paypal, the right thing to do  is to pay them, which you said you would do/
