Paypal shows my balance as 0?

I've recently added a debit card to my paypal account [it's the only card there] But now when I log onto paypal it says my balance is 0. I checked my billing info on the card website and it says I have 48 USD [the correct amount] What's wrong, and how do I fix this?

Because you have no money in your paypal

You have $48 on your debit card. You have $0 on your Paypal account. They're two completely separate accounts.

When you want to buy something via Paypal, they'll pull the money for it right out of your debit card account.

If someone pays you money via Paypal, the money will stay there in your Paypal account. It won't go onto your debit card until you withdraw it from your Paypal account and have it deposited to the debit card.
